Crystals and Feng Shui

All of life is vibrating at different frequencies. Anything that exists in our universe, whether seen or unseen, consists of pure energy, that resonates and exists as a vibratory frequency or pattern. Every thought vibrates and radiates a signal, and attracts a matching signal back. This is how we ourselves create our own reality; based on the law of vibration, whether we are aware of it or not.

The Role of Crystals in Feng Shui:

Crystals of all kinds are highly valued in Feng Shui for their ability to enhance and harmonize the flow of chi (or qi) energy within a space. Natural crystals can activate and create energy, because each Crystal has its own unique beneficial vibration; that emits a specific frequency, which generates energy. This energy is utilized to achieve balance among the five elements and promote a harmonious flow of chi.

Natural crystals, known for their distinctive energies and aesthetic appearance, are highly regarded for their ability to improve many facets of life, including wealth, health, and harmony.

Herkimer Diamond

Most people are unaware that Herkimer diamonds; a special type of Quartz crystal with a "diamond appearance" are exceptionally powerful vibrational amplifiers. Combining a Herkimer diamond with any other crystal, tends to increase the overall amplification at the highest potential level. As perfect conduits of the universal Life Force (chi), Herkimer Diamonds are the most powerful of all Quartz crystals. Doubly terminated crystals are not only capable of transmitting energies but also of receiving spiritual energy, which they can amplify and focus intensely. They are known to be harder than all other Quartz varieties, providing them with the strength and durability to handle challenging tasks beyond the capabilities of other Quartz crystals. Quartz Crystals

Quartz Crystals; such as Clear, Rose, Smokey, Etc., have long been used in Feng Shui for their distinct energetic properties and their ability to both enhance and reduce the elemental energy within a space and emit electrical signals that are highly precise. This is why clear quartz crystals are used in watches and electronics, etc.  

Quartz Crystal; as well as other crystals, are a type of ‘electrical resonator’ that uses it's piezoelectric ability to produce an electrical signal with an exact, precise frequency. Because of this, each crystal is an invaluable asset in regulating the energy of the Five Elements and helping to achieve a harmonious balance in a home or space.

Types of Quartz Crystals:

There are numerous varieties of quartz crystals (from 7 to over 75+) and the total number can vary depending on the classification system used, and source.

Quartz is a hard, crystalline mineral composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂).  Quartz is one of the most common mineral on the face of the Earth. It is found in nearly every geological environment and is at least a component of almost every rock types: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary. It frequently is the primary mineral, >98%. However, some of the most commonly recognized varieties of quartz crystals in Feng Shui and other metaphysical practices include:

Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Ametrine, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Citrine, Tiger's Eye, Aventurine, Prasiolite (green amethyst), Rutilated Quartz, Tourmalated Quartz, Agate, Jasper, Aura Quartz, Cats Eye, Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite, Labradorite, Bloodstone, Onyx, Chalcedony and many more.

These are just some of the more common and well-known varieties of quartz crystals used in Feng Shui and other metaphysical practices. However, there are many other rarer and more specialized types of quartz crystals that may be recognized by different classification systems or within specific traditions.

What does piezoelectric mean?

Piezoelectricity is the electric charge; that accumilates and releases an electric current, in certain solid materials; depending on their sixe and shape, in response to applied pressure, friction or heat. We can activate this piezoelectric energy in crystals by simply touching or holding a crystal, some can feel this energy as tingling sensations. This is why it is always important to rub your thumb back and forth on your crystals when setting your intentions, This friction is what programs the crystal with your intentions.  Other solid materials and biological matter that holds this type of electric charge are DNA, bone and certain ceramics.

Scientific research has demonstrated that crystals, through their crystalline matrix, have the ability to store, transmit, amplify, and transmute energy. Quartz crystals; as well as other Crystals, are capable of transforming sound, color, and light into frequencies that can disperse stagnant energy within the body, such as congestion, stuck emotions, subconscious imprints, and toxicity.  They also energize the body with positive healing frequencies that catalyze self-healing, soothe the nervous system, and elevate consciousness, leading to broader experiences of enlightenment and love.

How to choose Crystals in Feng Shui?

Crystals themselves are powerhouses of energy. They store energy, and they are also capable of moving Chi, (Qi, Prana or Life Force Energy)  through space or a person.

As a result, different stones are assigned various properties based on their effects and properties. Crystal healers typically use their stones by placing them on body chakras to influence the body and heal sickness. Placing the crystals in specific locations in your home can have much of the same effects but on a broader plane.

Choose by Color or Meaning?

Each Feng Shui direction is linked to a main color and multiple secondary colors. It is also linked to a certain life experience. Take both into consideration when choosing your Crystals and always choose the crystals that resignate best with you.
Even if it isn’t the same color as you might think would be right, all colors are not always apparent in a crystal.

 “Color” (or Colour, for those across the pond), is an attribute of light, not an attribute of things. “Object colors” can be based on one of two things. When broad spectrum light falls on an object, some frequencies are absorbed, and others are reflected. The mix of frequencies that are reflected, we ascribe to the “color” of the object.

For example, in the Purple Prosperity & Wealth corner, you could choose Green Jade because of Jade’s meaning…luck-wealth-prosperity, etc…or you could choose Yellow Citrine, a well know money magnet. Your intuition is a very powerful source, it is our antenna in life.

When choosing crystals for feng shui; or any purpose, I believe it is always wise to follow your intuition ( the feeling you get when holding crystals and how they make you feel).

Where to Place Crystals:

In Feng Shui, the placement of crystals is an important consideration as well as what you want to achieve in that space or in your life. Feng Shui tells us that our homes and spaces greatly affect what goes on in our lives, at home or elsewhere. Crystals have the natural ability to enhance the flow of positive energy (Chi), within a space.

Below are some general guidelines;

1. Entrance and Foyer:

• Place clear or white crystals, such as quartz or selenite, near the entrance or in the foyer. This can help create a sense of clarity, openness, and welcoming energy. They both offer wonderful purifying, cleansing and protection energies.
• Place Black Tourmaline, Black Obsidian or Black Onyx by your Entrance door: all offer strong protection and all act as shields to repel negative energies of unwanted people and help keep negative energies from entering your home. 

Using black and white/clear crystals (above) in the same area, acts as a Yin-Yang filter: the black crystals absorb the negativity and the clear crystals fill the space with purified; clean energies, filling the area with the feelings of peacefulness and tranquility.

2. Living Room:

• Use Crystal Quartz: Known for its ability to amplify energy and thought, Clear Crystal Quartz placed in the corners or center of the living room, enhances the whole room's energy, making it feel vibrant and lively.
• Selenite: Known for its powerful cleansing and healing properties, placing Selenite in the living room, especially on shelves or near seating areas, can foster peace, purity, and protection within the space.

3. Bedroom:

• Rose Quartz: Known for love, self love, confidence and for romance, compassion, and relaxation.
• Amethyst in the bedroom to promote restful sleep, intuitive dreams and for release of tension and anxiety. 
• Aventurine can be used to encourage harmony and balance in relationships. Aventurine is ideal for soothing quick-tempers or brutal temperaments, and can greatly diminish the effects of domestic strife between spouses.

4. Office or Study:

• Clear Quartz or Jade crystals can be placed in the office or study area to enhance focus, clarity, and productivity.
• Tiger Eye: Known to used to boost confidence and decision-making abilities, it is also a crystal for leadership and personal power.
• Pyrite: Known as a stone of luck, Pyrite helps to attract abundance, wealth, and prosperity. Placing it or your desk can help foster leadership qualities and protect against negative vibrations.
• Labradorite: eases an overloaded mind and helps manage thought processes.
• Fluorite: With properties that enhance clear thinking and concentration, it can help in maintaining focus and clarity during work tasks.
• Black Tourmaline: protects and shields negative energies of unwanted people or negative energies entering your space. It is also offers strong EMF protection.

5. Kitchen:

• Carnelian: Known for boosting vitality and creativity, Carnelian placed near the stove or on windowsills can enhance the energy levels and inspire culinary creativity
• Shungite: Known as a powerful water filter and detox crystal, it can help neutralize any negative energy or stagnation in the kitchen.

Cleanse, Charge and Program your Feng Shui Crystals 

Remember to always cleanse and charge your crystals before setting your intentions, then place them in the areas; that you have chosen, will best suit your needs. Always follow your intuition!

It’s a good idea to treat a crystal as though it has a battery that runs down and must be recharged every six weeks. Without regular attention, crystals just become pretty stones, or worse, they may start absorbing and exuding negativity, which really is the last thing you want to happen. So, it’s a good plan to add regular crystal cleaning to your schedule.

Each element color can invoke a different mood.

Note: The names for the sections stay pretty much the same throughout the years, but do vary some, while they still have the same underlying meaning. I have included most variations in my naming of the sections. 

The colors have also swayed over the years and I included the old with the new, as these should never change.

Always follow your instinct when placing colors and crystals, your feelings don’t lie as they are directly tuned in to the unseen Life force energy or Chi. 

 

 

Gemstone Placement and Feng Shui

How to find your correct Crystal placement: Print out and Place North area at front center of your Home, facing inward, or print out and place on the same size diagram of your House floorplan. You can make a simple drawn diagram.

In Feng Shui, crystals are used to harness and amplify the flow of positive energy or Chi within a space. Each cube of the Bagua map reprents a particular area in your home. Each area of your home represents a different aspect of your life. By placing specific crystals in these spaces, you can attract desired Chi energies (Life Force or Prana) to flow freely into your home or space. Crystals can also cleanse and help keep negative energies at bay and away. 

When choosing gemstones for Feng Shui, you can consider both color and meaning. The Crystals and Gemstones chosen in above chart, are the Crystals that align most with the Feng Shui Life Experience area and not necessarily with just the same color,
